Recommendations for improving road safety

Based on the results of a study of the causes of accidents involving London in Europe, recommendations were developed for various stakeholders, indicating the main causes of accidents involving London.

To manufacturers:

- install adapted cruise control systems

- adapt the speed control system to the existing infrastructure

- establish communication systems between vehicles for warning of danger on the ground

- install mirrors that reduce the "dead zone" of the review

- install systems that maintain the balance of the car when turning and changing lanes

- install a traction control system and stabilization.

Responsible for infrastructure developers:

- Establish traffic signs and provide an effective system of road warnings for drivers to inform about speed limits on the road

- establish more visible vertical road signs to help drivers comply with traffic rules

- pay special attention to the condition of the road surface (often the reason for an improper maneuver when changing the lane is the loss of traction by the vehicle).

To governments:

- toughen punishment for speeding violation
- Review the rules for driving schools so that new drivers can understand London maneuvers

- conduct a campaign to draw attention to the rules of the passage of intersections

- train drivers (drivers of London and other vehicles) must eliminate the shortcomings of driving experience, etc. metro minicabs

- toughen punishment (legislation)

- plan and maintain the state of the road infrastructure in accordance with existing and expected traffic flows.

London Drivers:
- choose a speed mode depending on the conditions

- plan your route in advance (you must know in advance about the infrastructure and restrictions)

- remember to limit visibility

- try to predict the maneuvers of other users dear

- always follow the rules of the road

- Improve your driving experience, regularly undergoing retraining (abandonment of old bad habits).

To other users dear:

- Improve your driving experience by regularly retraining

- Always follow the rules of the road.

Conclusions:

To improve road safety, all participants in the road transport industry (private sector, civil society, and governments) must make certain commitments and constantly cooperate with each other.

In addition, the recommendations presented in this study should not be considered separately, they must be analyzed, prioritized and considered in combination. And, most importantly, it is necessary to pay special attention to the human factor, since this study revealed that the cause of 86% of all road traffic accidents is a human error, for which other people are also paying.
